The school is located at 113 Moo 3, TambonNanglae, Amphoe Mueang, Chiang Rai. It is 11 kilometers from Chiang Rai city. The area is located at the hillside of 3 national forests. With the permission of the Royal Forest Department of 50 rai, the area is generally forest degraded. At the beginning of the school, many trees were planted. The current environment is shady.
        MengraiMaharaj Witthayakhom School was declared Ministry of Education On Tuesday, January 9, 1980, the third high school of Chiang Rai district. This school provide coeducational education and support more change to studnts to continue their study in secondary school especially in five districs over Kok River, namely, TambonThasut, Nanglae, Bandu, Maekhaotom, and Rimkok.
         The school has been teaching since the academic year of 1980. There are 4 classrooms, 175 students, 9 teachers, and Mr. Prasert Suwannajit is the first director. Later in the academic year 2530 was approved to open high school. 
            Currently, MengraiMaharajwitthayakhom School is under Office of the Basic Education Commission Region 36 (Chiang Rai - Phayao) Office of the Basic Education Commission Ministry of Education Students from Grade 1-6 in the junior class plans a 6-6-6 class and upper secondary classes is 6-5-6, a total of 35 classrooms with Mr. PramotNopphawong is the school director.

Developing and supporting education. All students receive quality education. The emphasis is on student development. To provide students with knowledge, morals, ethics, ability to meet basic education standards. And developing to ASEAN quality.
Goals
1.    Students have standard quality in basic education.
2.    Cultivatingmorals and ethics, ethically adhering to the philosophy of Sufficiency Economy.
3.    Students have foreign language proficiency.
4.    Teachers and Educational Personnel provide the quality of teaching and learning.
5.    The Strengthen of the school is cording to good governance principles. And get the cooperation from the community and Local administration to promote and support the education.
6.    Students have the ability in information technology from the quality education and learning.


  

Academic Support System
This school has 3 main buildings based on each Major and separated each other. The Math and Science Building. Foreign Laguage Buldings, and also the Social Buildings. The school also has 1 multi-purpose building, 2 workshops, 1 canteen, 1 auditorium, 1 library, 1 guard house, 5 teacher’s houses, 2 janitor’s houses, 5 water closets, 5 sports fields, and 1 student’s garage. There are 170 computers, 1 external telephone, 1 fax machine, 50 televisions, 25 VCDs, 21 printers, 7 overhead projectors, 4 school's cars.
